Caribbean stud poker is based on the standard 5 card stud poker game that is played on a Blackjack style table. This game is played with 1 deck of cards.

How to Play Caribbean Stud Poker

In Caribbean stud poker the player only competes against the dealer's hands not the other players. This means potentially every player can win at the same time. The game is stared with each player making an opening bet before any cards are dealt. The dealer deals 5 cards to each player face down except that the dealers last card is flipped up. After looking at the cards each player has 2 choices.

At this point of the Caribbean stud poker game a player can either raise their bet the same amount as their first bet or fold their cards.

Once all the players have folded or raised their Caribbean stud poker hands, the dealer will show his cards. The dealer must have at least an ace and a king in his hand or he does not qualify and the players get paid on the ante bet and the play bet is returned.

If the dealers hand does qualify with and ace-king combo or better the players cards are then revealed and compared to the dealers. If the players hand is better they are paid 1 to 1 on the anti bet and the play bet is paid off according to the Caribbean stud poker hand ranking.

If the dealer's hand qualifies with an Ace-King or better, then the player's cards are opened and compared against the dealer's. If the dealer's Caribbean Stud Poker hand is better than the player's hand, then the player loses both, the ante and play wager.

The Caribbean Stud Poker payoffs may differ between casinos but basically they are as follows:

A Pair - Even Money
Three of a Kind - 3 to 1
Straight - 4 to 1
Flush - 5 to 1
Full House - 7 to 1
Four of a Kind - 20 to 1
Straight Flush - 50 to 1
Royal Flush - 100 to 1
