Charlotte-Mecklenburg high schools students organized a charity poker event in order to raise money for the Habitat for Humanity. A total of over 60,000 dollars was fundraised at the event.
The charity poker tournament was held on Saturday. It was operated by a group of seniors from different high schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, which calls themselves Brick by Brick 2006. Event though the poker tournament did not include gambling, it had managed to gather more than 60,000 dollars for Habitat for Humanity.
Alex Lassiter, the founder of the group said the goal of the tournament was to contribute to the community. The launching of the Habitat house project, which was also organized by student, is scheduled to April 7.
