Even though online poker rooms and online casinos have discussed stepping up their security measures few have actually done anything about it. A recent event has highlighted that there are still giant flaws in the security of online gambling establishments. In the Swedish town of Skovde, 9 people have reported being victims of credit card fraud. When someone registered accounts at a poke room using their credit card numbers and fraudulent registration information.
Each of the 9 victims, who claim to have never visited the poker room or opened any accounts their, had an average of 10,000 Kronor billed to their credit cards from the poker site. The victims are not even online poker players, but the victims all have 1 thing in common. They all shopped and used their credit cards at a common store. The police are now thinking that an employee of the store made a copy of the numbers and used them to register at the poker room, but as of now no one has been arrested. In the end all the victims had the money removed from their credit card bills.
A request for a comment from the Poker room where the fraud took place went unanswered.
